We got to see what E. Coli looks like thanks to a few girls in Mr. Audia's class. They showed us little stuffed E. Coli microbes and we discussed how E. Coli gets into food and water.... poop. Ew. This tiny microbe can be a problem even here in the U.S. Imagine the havoc it can wreak in a developing country who's citizens don't have access to clean water. If you're interested, the toys came from GiantMicrobes.com. |
| We also watched the next video in the Living on One series: Hunger and Tortillas. This led to a discussion of nutrition and what it means to be malnourished. We talked about our own school lunches and how the law requires the school to provide certain amounts of grains, fruits, and vegetables in each school lunch. Students talked about the amount of waste they see everyday at lunch because their classmates don't want to eat the fruits and vegetables they are required to take. We will talk about this again in the future. |
