What is Kiva?
This short video explains a little bit about what Kiva is and how it works. Meet Pedro..
Kiva is a way to give needy people of the world a hand up rather than a hand out. Most of the micro-finance institutions who work with Kiva teach their borrowers how to manage their money. That way, people are able to grow their businesses, take care of their families, and save money for a rainy day.
Because the money we invest in Kiva is a loan, not a hand-out, we get our money back and are able to re-loan it to another Kiva borrower.

Our 30 YEAR PLAN!!!
Since Kiva borrowers pay us back each time, we realized that our fund would grow with the funds of the previous years... EVERY YEAR. For example, if we raise $1,000 per year for 5 years straight, we actually would have those funds recurring each year to re-spend on Kiva. See example below...
... so at year 5, we will have raised $5,000 but will have the effect of $15,ooo total. (We also estimate that every dollar on Kiva directly effects the live of one person since our average loan is to a group of 5 people who also live in a family of 5.) So in 5 years we will have effected the lives of around 15,ooo people world-wide. And this awesome formula revealed how many lives would be effected after 30 years on this same track!
Could you believe that over 30 years we would have raised $30,000? We would have loaned out $465,000 and directly supported 1/2 million people! Can kids make a difference in this world? YES! At Cherry Creek we have WORLD CHAMPIONS!!!
The Early Act Store
Students at Cherry Creek make products and donate them to the Early Act store. They then sell them to fellow students. All of the money earned goes to fund loans to Kiva borrowers around the world.
