Cherry Creek Early Act met today and made a little music! First, Mr. Audia shared a general overview of two picture books detailing the power of micro financing...Beatrice’s Goat and One Hen. Then he posted the lyrics to a song he wrote about micro financing on Kiva, called “Believer”. The song details the amazing effects a Kiva loan can have directly on a family as they work to lift themselves out of poverty. They had a great time!
You may have noticed that there has been quite a gap in our blog... We are going to make an effort to stay on top of it this year, but... no promises! :-D Here's a little tidbit of what we had going on last year to make up for lost time...
--We marched in the Homecoming Parade again! --We taught fellow classmates about world poverty during our World Poverty Week! --We made tons of loans and learned about micro-financing through our favorite website--kiva.org! --We started a recycling program for the building! This includes a partnership with the copy center and raising funds using the Paper Gator at Cherry Creek. These funds will go to support local community efforts. |
