Stacy Chambers--Lowell Rotarian--Visits Early Act!!
| At last week's Early Act meeting, our group was fortunate enough to have Staci Chambers come visit us. Mrs. Chambers had just returned from La Gonave, Haiti where she had been working with the Lowell Rotary to install water filters. She shared pictures of their work as well as some of the things she has learned about the lives of people who live there. |
This cause is close to our group's hearts because we spent January raising funds to buy four of the water filters that were installed there. One of the major things Mrs. Chambers wanted the kids to take away from her visit was to be thankful for everything and not to take anything for granted. She said she was deeply affected by her visit. |
Today's Meeting--Purple Pinkie Day Tomorrow!
Monday was Rotary's 110th birthday! In honor of this special time, Lowell Rotary, Huntington Bank, and Lowell Schools are teaming up to help eradicate polio. Lowell Middle School and High School had their Purple Pinkie Day on Monday. Cherry Creek will be having theirs tomorrow. Today, Early Act students learned four facts about polio. They will be teaching these facts to their fellow students during lunch tomorrow. Any student who can recall (and hopefully pass on) any of the facts will get their pinkie painted purple AND a penny will be donated in their honor to help eradicate polio. Every 60 pennies vaccinates one person. Pictures will be posted as soon as I can! This should be cool!! :)
We are READY with our facts!!!
